Isn't this pretty old testimony? The chairman looked like Kanjorski, and he's been gone for a while.

I'm becoming increasing convinced that Bill and others like him are wasting their breath on this fraud of a government. We're likely well past the point where he or anyone else can make a wit of difference in the trajectory of things.

We are all witness in real-time to a unique transformation of our government and society to everything the writers of the Constitution attempted to prevent.

Absolutely zero reaction from this committee "chairman" Talk about going through the motions. A great speech - one that will be ignored as usual. There is no justice in those halls, just a bunch of prostitutes clamming for money and votes.

Unfortunately its old news. The bigger unfortunately is that nothing has changed since since Prof Black gave that testimony. We are so hosed.

Falling on deaf ears ? Yes surely. But the ears are deaf because the way things are right now is how Congress and the President want them. It is by design.

Yup, the "money" war is already lost.

Obama totally sidestepped it. He acknowledges the fact that we're gonna get hit...and hit hard. He didn't dodge a bullet. He knows we're collectively "going down". Hence, signing NDAA.

Maybe I'll get the ban hammer for saying this but.....

Brace for impact. IMHO if you're stuck in the old paradigm that the system can be saved....you'll expend precious energy in that direction. IMHO that's futile at this point. There is not enough time...and not any clear viable way to get those very few people WHO NEED TO BE HEARD.....to the forefront. MSM is bought and paid for. The time to make changes is growing shorter every day....

I wish it weren't so....but every day that passes is a day closer to a serious readjustment. We're all going on an extended camping trip.

Obama is 3 chess moves ahead of us because he works for those few people who are steering the ship. He knows we're headed for the shoals.

Everyone's securities funds are at risk.

Just read this on Naked Cap, implications are STAGGERING.

Excerpt from Interactive Brokers' Financial Strength page (emphasis mine):

Quote:
The Importance of Choosing a Safe Broker

In light of the recent bankruptcy of MF Global, customers should understand how it is possible to lose money in the event of their broker’s bankruptcy. Despite all of the protections described above, there are still two ways a customer can lose money without losing it to the market:

1. If, in violation of the reserve and segregation rules, the broker does not keep some customer monies segregated, either by not putting newly deposited monies in the segregated account or if money is transferred out of segregated accounts for some other purpose, then there can be a shortfall. This may have happened at MF Global.
2. (OUR OTHER) Customers can lose more money in the market than they hold with the broker. When this happens the broker is obligated to make up the deficit from its own funds. If the broker fails to do so, (i.e., has not sufficient capital of its own to make up for the losses) and SIPC (and, if offered, excess-SIPC) coverage is insufficient or unavailable, then the other customers bear the cost of that shortfall. This, too, may have happened at MF Global.

This is the reason why it is vitally important to choose a broker that has a massive amount of capital and very good, automated credit controls.

So basically if there are big enough customers who are highly levered at my brokerage house and they lose big enough, I'm hosed. So we're all essentially hosed if the SHTF.

The only bad part of that video was having to look at the crook Kanjorski, who rammed mark-to-fantasy down FASB's throat at gunpoint. Since Kanjorski is no longer an elected official, I have no problem stating here that I hope he DIAF.

Watching the Chairman here brings to mind the marvelous quote from Fred Reed that was often recalled by the late Ron Smith, "Congress is nothing more than 535 temple monkeys pawing through the ashes of America searching for bribes."

The fact that this testimony is nearly two years old, the fact that it was so summarily dismissed by the FSC, and the fact that absolutely no action has been taken on it whatsoever, send a rather clear message. But only to those who are listening.

Some are inspired by the bureaucratic confidence of this man...

NEITHER HE, NOR THE CENTRAL BANKS, SHOULD HAVE THE POWER HE TALKS ABOUT.

The thought that a Central bank could remove me, or anyone else, as head of my financial institution "by a luncheon" smacks of disregard for private property rights, and lack of due process. It is the way of the mafia. I am distrubed by how this man relishes the idea.

That he smilingly talks about enforcing regulation to prevent market dislocations means the power of market intervention is given to government. It should be regulated by contract, not a rule making bureaucrat. It should be ruled by the enforcement by government of laws against fraud. Only then can the corruption be corraled.

As far as I am concerned, Mr. Black is just one more form of arbitrary control taken from the citizen at the point of a government gun, and supposedly for your benefit. He gives only the appearance of justice.
