60 Minutes: PROSECUTION Is Overdue

4 1/2 years down the road with me pounding the table almost on a daily basis, and we have...

Borgers tells Kroft that the FCIC found evidence of trillions of dollars of fraud and gross negligence, and that in the area of mortgage fraud, he found crimes committed by "mortgage originators, underwriters, banks . . . across the board." Yet still, no prosecutions . . . so far.

That's the bottom line.... so tell me.... do you still believe that The Government is not intentionally involved in covering this up and keeping the people who should be in prison from facing the music for their crimes?

Here's the original segment and link to it.

Maybe we should bail out CBS next.

That's a joke.

Isn't it ironic that in Police State America, where EVERYTHING is illegal, SOMEHOW the Banksters managed to asset-strip the peasants legally?

Finally, the lame stream media gets a clue...

The question now is will the government prosecute?

My money is that they won't. It's too big. And that will cause even greater problems.

the government is not making any attempt to cover up any of this, they have been dropping steamers right on Eric Holders steps in front of the media for several years. Cover-up? More like a collective "so what" by the Fourth Estate.

Just saw the show. When asked about why no prosecutions or if the JD was approached by the administration to bury it.....the guy basically lies to our faces and tells us to "stay tuned".

Yeah, don't hold your breath folks. Anyone with eyeballs, ears and a brain knows that after a decade of mortgage fraud these folks are not being pursued.

The reason there is no outrage is because over half the country is still brain dead asleep at the wheel while the raping and looting continues unabated. MF Global customers can attest to that.

4+somechange minutes on "60 Minutes Overtime" (which how many people watch?) ... they're testing the waters. So, when TSHTF, they can say, "I told you so." **** them.

I've given up tackling this from a national level. It WILL HTF, so I've been spending my time nurturing community relationships at a local level.

Corzine was the acid test. The fact that he is not in jail nor being sought is a bellweather as to what's going on.

Just my 2 cents.

Good on Steve Kroft and "60 Minutes" for this report. This was a bigger effort than anything I've put together.

The dickwad that runs the justice dept. stated CEO and CFOs certify the financial statements and that internal controls are adequate under oath. However, if the CEO doesn't know about the fraud or that the inner controls are not adequate he can't be held liable under Sarbox. I take it the CEOs of all these financial firms knew nothing about the internal operations of their company (just keep dancing while the music is playing).

Two conclusions - if you know nothing about the internal operation of the company and are the CEO you are grossly overpaid. Secondly, if you know nothing about how to run a company and represent yourself as knowledgable to investors your a complete fraud.

I understand Corzine didn't do anything illegal; the banks must have loopholed the regs so much that stealing is now ok, that's pretty scary.

Incidentally, that's false. Sarbox's entire PURPOSE was to make CEO's liable for knowing the operational integrity, becasue this was the common excuse prior to that law.

Unless or until the rest of the legacy media, in this country, picks this story up and runs with it nothing more will happen. Even though they are mostly worthless at getting to the bottom of this story most Americans still get their news from them. So, until these kinds of stories make the front pages of the major papers on a daily basis or the nightly news on a daily basis the American people will just go back to sleep.

Hate to say it but a lot of people out there just don't give a ****. I've had this discussion with several people who flat out told me that putting Angelo Mozilo in jail don't help them a ****ing bit. Too stupid to be citizens. Cannot connect the dots

Karl, I spent a good part of my working career in the mortgage business and I worked for a guy who worked for FNMA in the 1970's when it was a real company. He explained to me procedure of how they worked. They caught fraud like your mother would catch you stealing cookies, meaning there was always a culprit and they knew who it was and did something about it. A lot of people looked the other way.

Also, my primary gripe about Bernanke is his continued effort to keep this stuff covered up. He has moved way beyond liquidity to cover up with constant addition of bank money into the system. As long as these guys can cash their checks to other entities, their crimes remain hidden. This is why they are begging for the same in Europe, the ECB must print or the fraud and how the mess arose will get out.
