But But But.... (More Evidence)

Oh no, not the truth again!

Everything happened just the way Occupy Nashville protesters said it would.

The group of young Republicans from Vanderbilt University marched up to the group of Occupy Nashville protesters sitting on the steps to Legislative Plaza on Thursday evening.

The small group of about 20 students was armed with signs and chanting.

The group was quickly drowned out by a roar of cheers and applause from the nearly 150 Occupy Nashville protesters. Some called out, “We love you” to the students as the two groups faced each other: the students standing at the foot of the stairs and the Occupy Nashville group sitting at the entrance to the plaza.

Chanting from the students, “We are the debt generation!” was quickly amplified as Occupy Nashville protesters started joining in. It wasn’t long after that the two groups combined. Many shook hands and broke into small discussion groups, intent upon hearing each other’s views.

“We were so pleased that they accepted our welcome,” said William Howell, 64, one of the Occupy Nashville protesters who was arrested during last week’s protests. “I hope we continue to hear voices from that point of view. We have found that during our talks, we have a lot of the same interests.”

smiley

But Copus also thought it was great that the groups could come together.

People should be able to express their views, even if they don’t agree with each other,” he said.

Oh nooooos!  Not the First Amendment!  OH NO MR. BILL!

But if these guys are all a bunch of closed-minded Marxists and Communists, then how come this group of Republicans from the local college went out there and found..... applause?

And how is it that I, also a conservative when it comes to economics who believes in Capitalism, used the People's Mic in Pensacola and found the response for my message was..... applause?

C'mon folks.  Let's face it: The so-called Republicans that trumpet The Constitution are simply wrong when it comes to this group and their intentions, and the vast majority of the verbal bomb-throwers from The Right have not spent one minute at one of these gatherings personally and as such have absolutely no basis for their claimed opinions.

Get off your butt and go mingle with these folks.  They're people, just like you, and if you spend a few minutes talking with them you might have the same experience I did: There is a wide variance of opinion represented but the vast majority of the people there have correctly identified the "who" in what's wrong -- many of them are searching for the "how", and if you take the time to speak with them and have an exchange of ideas, you are likely to find that both of you are pleasantly surprised with the results.

I turned on Glenn Beck on talk radio a couple of weeks ago and he was positively raving about OWS. Screeching, whining.

This thing is really scaring the republican faction of the elite.

As a Nashvillian, I just have to say "Hell yeah". Maybe we can get our idiot mayor to quit spending millions that we don't have on convention centers for his cronies. That would be something, wouldn't it?

Awesome!

I have yet to hear from a single person who actually "went" to a OWS demonstration report otherwise. Thought our little one-day demo might be an anomaly. Guess not!

As it should be.

I was a skeptic, and originally refused to report on it at all, since I didn't know what it was about.

I took the time to have PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and thus can speak from that.

Anyone here who hasn't and is getting their "opinion" from Fox News or Glenn Beck is going to find themselves increasingly marginalized as the people ar waking up to the scam of divisive politics and lies and they're tired of it.

If you keep it up here without that personal experience you'll find my patience runs out as well.

I still have yet to attend, but I'm hearing good things about the protests from a number of friends that have attended.

I agree completely. We spent all day last Saturday with Nashville OWS and my wife and I were both impressed with how open minded and willing to discuss things everybody was...

edit...just to add, not a "Marxist" in sight...

Unlike the Teaparty protests I attended, these folks seem to recognize the Constitutional rights of ALL. The Orlando Teaparty had "spotters" to "out" people who showed up with signs with an opposing view.

It sounds like OWS gives the "mike" to anyone who would like to speak without censor. I hope to find out soon enough when I am finally able to make it to my local Occupy movement. Unfortunately I have been delayed by caring for two terminally ill parents, my personal battle with SunTrust and my builder, and raising two kids who have been emotionally devastated by all of it.

This sounds like we are at a "teachable moment" and I would like to be a part of what shapes this movement.

I am so on board with all of this. Just like the original tea party, OWS gives me hope that the populace is waking up. This united demonstration literally brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for staying on top of this Karl.

The truth is whatever you want it to be based on your own personal prism. Why is it that the "gimme free ****", the anti-capitalists, the ACORN types, union thugs and other folks who have attempted to attach themselves to this are ignored and anyone who pays attention to these people are in denial? Working really hard to legitimize this movement and while SOME of the messages coming out make a lot of sense but plenty of stuff doesn't. Again, tell them to move on down to Washington on the Mall and have them protest why the people charged with making and carrying out the laws are playing the role of good prison wives for the financial community then they are on to something.

Don't tell me that with 138 million results you couldn't be bothered to find ONE.

My patience is wearing thin with the intentional falsehoods....

Fox New, Hannity and Limbaugh are on the wrong side of this issue. The longer the protest goes on the more credibility they are collectively going to lose.

OWS as well as the rest of the US citizens should demand a up or down vote on reinstating Glass-Stegall, not mind you the 2500 page revised document that congress will conjure up - the original 17 page document. I call it a simple cup check drill, who has the nuts and who is a sell out. Vote up or down.

As George W Bush would say, your either with us or your with them.

the intentional falsehoods

I find them somewhat fascinating.

All these posters cannot be "paid agents" or work for those who benefit from the status quo.

So why the obstinate refusal to engage or consider the truth? What is it about the current system's impending end that they simply cannot grasp? Why do they have such a need to cling to failed partisan political ideology when it has clearly and undeniably delivered less than zero?

Are falsehoods a comforting security blanket?

I've lost friends over these discussions, when I've pointed out the falsehoods around the anti-OWS propaganda. As in, they won't talk to me anymore, return my calls, etc. They're not stupid people -- yet they have a passionate, consuming need to believe a lie... a lie that is screwing them, their children, and their future grandchildren. Why?

Add Levin and O'reily to that list.

At least O'reily acknowledges some of the points the OWS has but when he sends out reporters the come back with mostly anti OWS segments.

For myself, it disturbing that so much of the lame stream media is offering the more glowing reports of the OWS.

It doesn't pass the smell test.

The CNBS crowd and a couple of guests were going on and on about OWS this morning. Basically, their point of view was "stop complaining, get off you ass and get a job". Either absolutely clueless, or so desperate to preserve the status quo that they deliberately are distorting the OWS message.

Well put Brian,

Because what started as much needed balance in media reporting has morphed into it's own cult. The deprogramming of the cult members has started.

Sorry, not good enough. You need hundreds of thousands of people. Camp out there right on the Mall. Also camp out elected officials offices and hand out fliers to people walking buy and ask them what they think about said elected official's actions with respect to crony capitalism, bail outs and fraud. Invite avg citizens to participate in the electoral process by holding elected officials to account.

You don't start there. You would not reach 1/100th of the people that you could reach in local outreach.
Plus it's much easier to "control" a meeting there.

Ever wonder why during election season the pols don't hold big rally there but instead spend millions locally?

Not good enough, bilge. It's the only way.

Top down is what you have now.

In fact, the local/state level is where the change needs to be as more and more should ignore/disconnect from that cesspool. They should be 1/10th the size at the Fed level.

Cut them off at the knees, make them a distant part time memory.

I stopped listening to Beck over this, and I've listened to him longer than I've read TF.

Besides his perspective on OWS, all of a sudden OWS is complaining about the "evil bankers" without merit. WTF? Really?

I could take or leave Hannity and almost never listen to windbag Limbaugh. Now I'd only listen in the way you slow down to look at a car wreck.

I've reading on the OWS site.

Is direct democracy what we really want fellas?

They seem to be heavy promoters of that concept.

No we want LOCAL rep just as it was intended.

DO you WANT the current scam from Washington.
If you give me a choice between democracy local or rep at Fed level , it's a no brainer.

Local.

p.s. free market is a democracy, right?
