I don't think voting in any clown that I have so far seen throw their hat in the ring for President or any Senate/Rep seat will stop the ponzi, so I have given up on the system too and am merely hoping for its demise.

That said, I'm very interested in finding people, like Rush as one example, who will educate people the right way and who will work for a George Washington revival rather than an FDR rerun.

Hope hasn't gotten us anywhere.

It is the American people, left, right and center, who have kept entitlements off the table, even though everyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that they will break the budget.

The debt ceiling deal was just one more attempt to kick the can down the road, taken because at the end of the day the American people WANT the can to be kicked.

When it comes to the necessity of a 10% or better contraction of GDP, of course Americans want to compromise it away, just like they want to negotiate with death. The fact that it cannot and will not work is immaterial.

I am a financial advisor who does a number of 401k plans and thus enrollments. Lately, I have been starting out enrollment meeting with a screen save of the usdebtclock webpage as a reason to save for their own retirement. I also show them all the red and point out our need to wake up and address this. I figure it is lost on most but at least I try to do my small part to educate the masses.

Rush lost me when he tried to blame the whole financial mess of the last few years on democratic support for the Community Redevelopment Act. Claiming that it was because of this Act that banks were making $1,000,000 NINJA loans to hair dressers. He will say anything to blame everything on the democrats.

....It wasn't the FED's easy money, it wasn't lack of regulation, it wasn't corporate greed, it wasn't the 'too big to fail' backstop, it wasn't Fanny and Freddy, it wasn't unregulated derivatives and CDS, it wasn't fraud, it wasn't 40 to 1 debt to equity ratios. Oooohhhh No. It was because democrats supported the Community Redevelopment Act. If that is his conclusion, how can anyone take Rush seriously.
