I participated in the 'duck and cover' exercises back in 1962 at Brookshire Elementary School in Winter Park, FL during the little issue with Cuba, USSR and nukes.

$500-$600 billion budgeted and achieved reductions per year, starting in 2012 or game over. I personally don't think the government will achieve this so I will guess we get to '1' or KABOOM time in 8-16 months.

“Understandable as this cockiness might be, history teaches a crucial distinction: nations could marshal the necessary debt-defying high wire walks and comebacks during their youth and early middle age, when their industries, exports, capitalizations, and animal spirits were vital and expansive, but they became less resilient in later years. During these periods, as their societies polarized and their arteries clogged with rentier and debt buildups, wars and financial crises stopped being manageable. Of course, clarity about this develops only in retrospect. However, even though war related debt seems to have been part of each fatal endgame, the past leading world economic powers seem to have made another error en route. They did not pay enough attention to establishing or maintaining a vital manufacturing sector, thereby keeping a better international balance and a broader internal income distribution than financialization allowed.” Kevin Phillips

I see -2- by late summer. If -1- is ever posted figure -0- to follow very quickly. It might never get posted though with martial law and the net shut down for public use.

Has anyone heard the ads on the radio for emergency supplies of food? Supposedly enough freeze dried food to last 25 years! If it all comes in one package, where would you put it all? If it comes incrementally, and there is "1" or "0" it would be stolen before it ever left the post office. How gullible do they think we are?

Pray that a complete shutdown never happens. Seems that some of you long for that here. There is a lot of stuff you can't get if a shutdown happens. If you really need that stuff, then you might want to store as much as you can now. If there is no collapse you'll have saved money because the stuff you have saved can and will be used anyway.

If you wear glasses how long will your contact supply last? Do you like toilet paper? Do you have a way to filter your water? Food is the hardest thing to stock up on when the grocery stores are right there and have plenty. Freezed dried is the way to go for long term needs. That stuff can last 25 years. Stocking up on can goods that have an expiration date a few years down the road doesn't help too much. The local food banks like it when I come by.

The problem with all that is if people want my **** and can't get it, all they have to do is burn me out and nobody gets it.

Luckily I finally have my wife convinced that we need to get prepared.

Oh, I know what's happening.

Go to "http://tickerforum.org"

You have a bookmark with the old (Deprecated) explicit CGI reference. Get rid of it.

There's other stuff that will break with that. I'll see if I can fix it with a redirect so it "goes away" over time.

Where do we get it Karl? I think we agree that this is a roughly 12% or higher swing in GDP. Likely the current revenue drops. Figure we have to feed 20 million displaced people. That is probably $200 billion, figuring $10,000 each. This takes us back to the plan you put up. I know we are already putting that out in some fashion. Thus we are going to have to add before we take off. Depression is a natural disaster brought about somewhat by building too close to the flood plain.

We are probably at the point where there needs to be a jubilee. This is the point where gold money comes in. Debt wipes out money based on credit. A haircut on everything by decree and then no effort to support prices might be the only solution out of a debt problem this deep. I have thought at times of forcing those that hold debt to take equity in return, which is a clear solution to the bank problem. Deflation is in process whether they artificially try to stop it or not. What we are seeing on the inflation side is the 6th grade bully who steps down to the second graders to have his effect. There are 3 corporations in the world trading for a combined cap value greater than the spare commodities laying around on earth. It almost don't matter because not many have the money to consume them.

There needs to be a Bright Border around the "square" for the active "level" to set it off more plainly from the others.
