PROSECUTING!

Oops... it's not here....

Iceland’s special prosecutor into the banking crisis has confirmed that raids have taken place today and that arrests have been made. The Central Bank of Iceland is among the institutions under investigation.

Hoh hoh hoh......

Now we're talking.  Investigations into the banking crisis, and they're actually going to lock up some banksters?

Now that's progress.

Speaking of progress, has anyone paid attention to the labor force participation rate in Iceland lately, or the change in unemployment, or the change in imports and exports?

I wouldn't say their economy is "booming", but it sure looks pretty good compared to a lot of others, having told the banksters who wrote a bunch of bogus paper they couldn't cover to go stuff it instead of bailing them out!

I wonder if this had anything to do with Iceland's willingness to "do the right thing"?

If you remember, just about one year ago Iceland refused to bail out IceSave.  There were threat of doom and gloom made by the banking cartel.  But the people stood firm, and made clear that they weren't going to stand for it - and were willing to be more than a bit forceful in their refusal.

The government folded to the people and told the Banksters to shove it.

It was the right decision.

And now, perhaps, the Banksters responsible might wind up in prison.

That too would be the right decision.

Nice, that is such a nice picture. The flares on snow are beautiful, imagining a fat old guy lying face down in snow, with a boot on his back while his rights are read.

(lol, ok, its a torch protest, but still looks cool)

Currently looking at shipping my vehicles and personal belongings over to Iceland in a 40ft container via ocean freight. Looks like the biggest hassle in moving there would be having to leave my dog in quarantine for 4 weeks.

I was reviewing the supporting sources, and saw this story:

Quote:
David Oddsson asked Fed for a billion dollars

Iceland’s former central bank governor sent Timothy Geithner, governor of the US Federal Reserve, a letter on 24th October 2008 requesting a billion dollar loan.

The letter, which has been leaked on Wikileaks, begins with the words “Dear Tim”.

Oddsson requests a currency swap agreement in the letter due to the fact that all credit lines to Iceland had frozen after the banking collapse. It is obvious from the letter that such requests had been made and rejected in the past — most recently just the month before.

Never going to happen here. Our Bankster scum get to hide their fraud, pretend they are solvent, pay out massive bonuses again and again while sticking the bill to the serfs who willingly bend over, lube up and then say "more please."

Rather than rotting in jail, these pigs are given the red carpet to blow another massive bubble, this time with a few billion more people to screw.

Thus, we continue the race toward a total collapse as the public ignorantly tries to keep playing in a game they can't win as debts crush them all.

But no one saw it coming.

Iceland is a population of ONE PEOPLE (genetically, language, culture, geography) . They are capable of acting together and trusting one another. This, along with the small geography, allows for no divide-and-conquer by the international banksters. The biggest population of foreigners is at the US Air Force Base, and they are strictly controlled regarding dating Icelandics.

I can only hope that Americans can overcome our "diversity" to follow the lead of Iceland.

Bless us one and all.

I was in Kef for some time, and I don't recall this. Granted, I was married and not interested, but I don't recall any single dudes being prohibited from dating Icelandics.

There was one USN nurse that was active enough to keep all the guys on base, so perhaps that was the ploy.

The only prohibition we had was buying hooch for the Icelandics - big no no.

"The only prohibition we had was buying hooch for the Icelandics - big no no."

Thus, American-style dating is prohibited from the GI side, and the Icelandics have their own ways that inhibit interaction leading to non-in-group "dating". Complaints by local leaders result in prompt and effective action by military commanders. It's not a coincidence that a bunch of married AF troops are sent to remote (unaccompanied) duty there. The message is "don't marry our daughters and pollute our culture". Got herring?

Cheers.

So Americans are good enough to be on the hook to die to defend Iceland and its culture but not good enough to marry any of them.

Yeah.

As a GI in a foreign country you arent allowed to buy the locals any type of liquor or tobacco purchased from the base or area PX. Thats the rules everywhere for American GIs in foreign countries. The locals get very annoyed when they find their liquor and tobacco taxes are not being paid.

And that rule really applies to damned near anything...I got in some trouble in Germany because while I wouldn't buy my German friends any alcohol or tobacco products I didnt thnk anyone would care about the junk food...Captain Crunch, Doritos, Fritos, and hostess hohos and twinkies were the favorites and I would always take a junk food basket to my buddies family. Base commander found my car full of junk food and I wound up doing extra duty for a month.

Yeah, it was taking stuff from the BX and selling it. If you wanted to get an Icelandic chic liquored up, you probably could on the cheap.

There is a pretty girl behind every tree in Iceland.

Seriously, though, from friends who've been there, the consensus opinion is that Iceland definitely has more than its share of good-looking, desirable women.

True. Iceland does have more than its fair share of hot chicks, as do all the Nordic countries.

Eleua,

When you were at Keflavik, did you serve in the Navy? If so, did you work in the "T" Building?

I was with the P-3 squadrons and went there to hunt Russian subs. I didn't get off base much.

I don't reacall the "T" building by that name. I do recall going into the ASWOC and it looked like going into the "Control HQ" on "Get Smart."

Kef is the site of the worst landing of my career in April 1994.
