Gonna be a long, hot summer.
I want to thank the Gubermint of Ill-noise though - for making my Gubermint in the People's Republic of Massachusetts look almost sane by comparison.

Raises you say?
Illinois has:
1. Raised the bar on how corrupt one state can be.
2. Raised concern about being the first state to file BK
3. Raised the level of aggravation and disgust of it's people.
4. Raised it's deficit to obscene levels
And so on, and so on.....
Now it has raised wages with an empty checkbook, massive unemployment, and welfare recipients in double digits in virtually every county of the state.
This pathetic state raises EVERYTHING, so why be surprised. I live here but I dont tell anybody anymore. Whoops...forget I said that.

There is no law that says you can be compelled to labor.
I don't know....Reagan forced Air Traffic Controllers to work.
If IL can get away with pay raises more power to them. I have yet seen a low level employee turn down a pay raise.

People will NEVER turn down a raise or a handout, especially in this state. The problem does not lie with the PEOPLE, it lies with the GOVERNMENT. How can you extend more of what you do not have.
Answer: On the backs of the very people you extended it to. And how is that working out for our state? People are LEAVING. As they should.

Gen - I don't think ****-cago has much time left. Downstate where I grew up will not put up with this much longer. The absolute hatred of those in Southern Illinois of those in Chicago is astounding. I would say they hate Springfield but these days most of Illinois state business is done in Chicago. If you were to take a vote in downstate to secede the vote would be overwhelmingly supportive of this everywhere south of Kankakee.

I hope Illinois keeps on giving state employees more raises. As a matter a fact I wish they would DOUBLE IT  . Look folks, somebody's got to go over the cliff first. Maybe after seeing Illinois go over, other states might finally wake the hell up...MAYBE.

Ill-noise has an extremely annoying toll system around Chitcago - they have in the last few years gone to a "transponder" system but for those "just passing through" it just made the system suck even worse (not to mention radically jacking up the cost.)
One of the more-annoying aspects of that toll system is that you are effectively trapped by it west of the Edens on I-90 and if you came in on 94 from Indiana it can get you with no way out - pick a direction, you're gonna pay once you pass that point. Ditto if you go north on 94 at the junction - when you get to the end, ****ING SURPRISE there's a tollbooth at Deerfield!

Ugh, won't be headin' back that way any time soon, figured I'd try a different route back from the other coast, and got stung by it. I-80 on the way out had way fewer tolls..
(and don't get me started on friggin' U-Hauls using gasoline, 1200mi / 8mpg vs 12-15mpg.. gruntle..)

My 83 year old father and 71 year old mother are considering a move to St Charles MO. Themortgagekids factor into this as well as availability of health care, but the state economic troubles may be the tipping point.
