Like the rest of you, I don't know the truth behind this sign. However I would give a low probability that it actually is what it appears to be. I would think that any Hispanic who could write colloquial english that well would also know how preposterous it sounds.

If it is 'shopped, I bet the original will turn up eventually.

Immigration has been an on off matter over that hundred years. There have been many bans and quotas and periods the gates were thrown open briefly. It's not simple. Before WWI there wasn't even such a thing as a passport. It was a world we can hardly imagine.
Real or false that sign shows the anger and incivility is so extreme we are not far behind the Greeks. Our riots have been small and scattered and mostly unreported. I know of at least 3 incidents on May Day. This is the same thing that happened on the summer of 1967. To look at network TV you would have thought the only riot was in Detroit and a few other small minor disturbances. They covered up there were significant riots in about 200 cities.
If we catch up to the Greeks I am afraid we will quickly surpass them. Our police are very militarized now and the population is heavily armed. All it will take is the sound of one gun shot to break the restraint even if nobody can tell where it is from. They will assume it is the other side.
I plan on being able to hunker down and stay off the street if things get crazy.

I'n not in a big city, and I'm increasingly pleased with my decision not to live in or near one. Unfortunately large numbers of people in those places are utterly dependent and in crowds the risk of the group going "prompt critical" is very real.

Two years ago all the demonstrators had Mexican flags. Now they all appear to be US flags. That speaks to me that these are very much events organized at a higher level because the Mexican flags in the US were so invasive and offensive they were counter-productive and distracting from their message.

Sorry, but have to be a contrarian here. I think the sign actually holds a lot of the sentiment seen and heard at La Raza rallies and in their literature. How's that for a 'Fake But Accurate' damnation if the sign turns out to be Photoshopped?

I especialy like the "Whites get out. This is ARE land" poster. But many of the other images hold the same theme - you are here on our land. And if we can't do anything really effective to get you off of it, you at least owe us for it (hence FREE). Other good ones are 'The Latino KKK' and many others touting that kind of theme.

Whether the sign is authentic or not, it doesn't seem out of the realm of the sentiment of the radical La Raza stated intent. I think this organization beats out the NAACP as the most biggoted (and racist?) formal organization in the US. (Ok, also in close running are the KKK and skinhead types.)

I can't say that I personally know a lot of illegal (criminal) aliens - whether anglo or latino. But more than a few of my relatives are from Latin American countries including my mother, my grandfather (Bogota Columbia), my sisters husband who is of Mexican descent, and my uncle from Cuba. I completely understand the desire of Mexicans and South Americans to come to America for a better life - just like they did. But we DO have a system. Both of my parents are Legally Naturalized citizens. Change the system, don't blow it off. It completely cheapens and negates the meaning of folks going through the process of becoming an American Citizen.

We do need to make it a more streamlined system. But so far as I know, we are still a soverigen nation and by right have a responsibility to control the flow of those who intend are coming here - whether they become citizens or not. All are welcome to apply, but not all ARE welcome to stay (criminals, rapists, drug smugglers, etc.).

There are those - as in the radical elements of La Raza - that whole heartedly support the sentiments of the sign in question, whether it is a real sign or a 'shopped' one.
