I think the whole "making a copy of your ass and attaching it to your return" is a great idea! Sounds like a good way to get your point across. I don't see any "legal ramifications" (no pun intended) We should create a nice cover page with our ass on it and all include it with our return this year! If nothing else it would make filing your taxes fun!

Ya know, when I was a kid, I seem to recall that whole "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude never really worked out well for my parents either.

If your leaders don't/can't exhibit the same basic moral fibre and principals that they demand of their citizenry, theres really going to be 'issues', long term.

These fhuckers in DC better learn to straighten up and fly in formation pronto.

On a separate, but related note, my gun permit/pistol purchase permit was finally approved here in socialist NJ. I continue to properly prepare for the future that our Government is lovingly planning for us. Carpe Diem.

Not to be a wet blanket, but as I posted somewhere else recently, it may get you a $500 penalty for filing a "frivolous return". smiley

I have a number in my head that if I ever reach that amount of liquid net worth, I'm done paying taxes. I won't evade taxes, but I'm done making money or even putting my liquidity into the capital markets. At these interest rates, why bother?

If the gooberment showed me that it wanted to make a nation that would be viable for my three kids, reward risk and sweat, and preserve what is left of our Western Culture, then I would put it back to work. If not, it would be easier to just do this:

Acgreyhound,

I'll admit to using Turbo Tax (I guess that makes me ("e-file Eleua")smiley.

I have to print out my return on standard 8.5x11, and there is nothing saying that I can't run about 20 copies of my ass and print out my return on the backs of those sheets.

Preparing taxes and hearing some of the same refrain. Here's one for ya:

Customer made appprox $20k last year, $5k more than the previous year. Refund is lower. Why? Sweet spot for maximum EIC with 2 kids is $12 - 15k. You made more money, your EIC went down. You received the max last year. Reaction? No likey that, not going to make as much money this year. LOL Can we say unintended consequences?

And they want to expand the EIC too. Call it what it is, it is not a credit. It is Federal child support, or welfare through the tax code. Same goes with the "payroll" tax. That is FICA, or Social Security. Why don't they call it what it is? Maybe because if all the people who pay into it realize a broad swath will not and will still collect (assuming it is still around), they may not think it fair that folks who pay no FIT and no FICA get to still collect SS benefits. Hmmm.

Same goes with the bogus tax 'credit' from the HR 3221 crap. They keep touting up to $7500. BS. It is a loan that has to be paid back, and is only 10% of the purchase price. To get the whole $7500 'credit' you would need to purchase a $750,000 house. LOL Notice how you never see any of those details in any advertisements or stories about that 'credit.' Oh, and no surprise, the NAR*****s and builders are lobbying to get that into a real credit and make it more. Haha.

Too many games and crap in our tax code. What a farce! A joke! And we all know it!

Oh, and another one. Let's expand subsidized children's health insurance to 300% of the poverty level, and fund it with a sin tax. Yeah, that's innovative and change we can believe in. Fund a growing program with growing funding needs with a volatile, declining revenue base; tobacco taxes. That's leadership, right there it is. More stealth taxes, this one on smokers. Who's next?

Gun owners. Although, many I have spoken with have said that they'd pay the extra taxes in a new metallic currency, copper-plated lead.

We truly have a very, very serious problem. As pointed out by many here in various ways, if an authority figure tells a reasonably intelligent person "do as I say, not as I do," then the natural reaction is some variation of "**** you and the horse you rode in on."

Take California's government, the den of thieves: simply not returning tax overpayments, but giving out little IOUs instead? WTF!!! If I lived there, I damned sure would IMMEDIATELY bump my exemptions up to 12, and I'd probably cheat on my taxes as well - THAT is the result when you lie.

As for the Feds, even before the revelations about Turbo Tax Timmy and Daschle (gee, poor scumbag, he'll have to go back to being a lobbyist making 5 or 10 times what his cabinet position would have paid - pretty fair trade off for his ego, I'd say), people were completely fed up (no pun intended) - the $750 billion for TARP was, IMHO, THE biggest wake up call that Americans have had to date. Not only were our representatives lied to and railroaded into passing this thing WITHOUT OVERSIGHT, but there was at least 10:1 sentiment against it and the MF'ers in Congress passed it anyway. So much for representative government...but the dolts across the country re-elected the same *******s. People were thus angry, and are hurting financially, not a good combination in a voluntary tax system. However, now it is worse, FAR worse: you have an obvious tax cheat in charge of the Treasury Dept., including the IRS. OUT-****ING-RAGEOUS!!!!!!

Obambi is supposed to be smart (if inexperienced in the extreme). Well, guess what, I now wonder about that - how can he let this parade of tax cheats keep going on? AND NONE OF THESE ****ERS PAYS INTEREST OR PENALTIES!!! Doesn't he have the slightest clue what this does, especially at this time??? Does he think we're THAT stupid, THAT sheep-like, that we as a people are going to keep dutifully reaching into our pockets to do exactly what the law says, when the very people who should be 110% legal are the biggest cheaters??? No sir, that's not how Americans act. We may not torch cities, but we WILL find a way to stick it back to someone who has stuck it to us. I know that this isn't exactly going out on a limb, but I'm quite positive that we're going to see the biggest year-over-year decline in income tax revenues in history, and that people cheating on their taxes will comprise a significant percentage of that (though, of course, a good cheat will never be found out, so coming up with precise figures is impossible).

Time for a reset. On so many levels, our system has broken down. Those willing to lie, cheat, steal and otherwise stick it to J6P make it big, while the rest of us get ****ed for playing by the rules??? That can work for a short time, while J6P nation has persisted in its belief that the civics books are right and that the evidence before our eyes is "just a few bad apples." Not any more. Too much water under the bridge. We no longer believe - and that is what destroys nations.

Oh, and just wait until the sonsabitches try to disarm us after making us pay more than anyone should have to pay in taxes. THEN you will see an explosion. They get the money AND the guns, and we don't, we just get to keep working to pay off our debts and the bloated bills for the government, we get to be vulnerable to the street criminals they won't control, we have hanging over our heads the spectre of being defenseless in the face of an oppressive government that couldn't give a **** about us...seems kind of like the words you see in the dictionary next to the word "slave."

We're done. My grandfather, of blessed memory, came to these shores (legally) in the early 1920's. My father was born a few years later raised as a good American, and as a young man in the '50s was rightfully proud of his country, so much so that he said words to the effect of "this nation will last forever." Well, Grandpa had a bit of wisdom to impart: he told my father the following: "when I was a boy there was a great celebration all across Russia for the 300th anniversary of the Czar's family having the throne. 300 years, think about it: my grandfather's grandfather's grandfather couldn't have remembered a time before the Romanovs. So far as we were concerned, the Czar WAS forever...and 5 years later the royal family was shot and thrown down a well. Son of mine, NOTHING IS FOREVER - and don't ever forget that." Now, here we are, witnessing the greed and hypocricy of our so-called elites rip this country to shreds. The only solace I get from that is that every other country out there is more ****ed than we are; instead of living in the best country on Earth, we'll live in the least crappy one.

Arvix,

"Plenty of out of work banking people.IRS should start hiring."

Yeah, just put a bunch of them into the same room in the morning, and we'll have a surplus of $500 billion by lunch. On paper. And sold by dinner to 400 million suckers, who then turn around and sell options or futures contracts on them, etc., etc., etc. While the new IRS agents collect origination fees.

What we really ought to do is put all of those bankers to work writing fiction - think of the great literature that would be produced.

I posted on Mish's site a week or so ago that the fear was almost palpable... Well, I'd like to amend that statement here and say that the fear and anger are almost palpable. People who thought I was looney toones a year ago started sending me the links that I would've sent them back then, and they're*****ed.

Tax-revolt isn't far fetched and it is one of the only non-violent ways that the .gov can be stopped.

in the reverse of the direction this thread is going, how is obama finding this **** the IRS isn't? I'm rather familiar with the tax code, tax gap, and different ways to quantify tax cheats and the like. What is he looking at the IRS obviously isn't? The way I see it, obama nominate the 13 richest people in the US for his cabinet members so we can shrink the deficit. This is ridiculous. the tax gap this year will be horrendously large. just think, as thousands of americans each week are forced fromm atchable income into the gray economy, the tax take drops from 90 odd percent to ___________. my guess is less than 60%. I'm looking for the number on the IRS website, but current info is tough. compliance was 73% on non traceable income in 1996. it will be much lower for 2008.

Anyone legally able to render an opinion on this? What if you file your tax return but don't pay the taxes and work out a payment plan. This might be a legal way to protest.

If they are willing to work out payment plans with losers, it's only fair they do it for solid taxpayers too right?

you have to file. there are penalties for both non payment and nonfiling. nonfiling is more expensive at 5% per month up to 25%. nonpayment penalty is .5% per month. working as a mortgage officer in a past decent economy I saw lots of people choose to delay payment because it was cheaper than their other sources of funds. please remember, I AM NOT A TAX EXPERT. check out the IRS website for more info

Gen,

Your being a little hard on Obama. Who knew one would actually have to work as POTUS?

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=....
Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) - On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while.

He left.

With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated compound of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday. They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.

"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School.

"We got out! They let us out!" Mrs. Obama said as the kids and their teachers laughed.

The White House said the Obamas' trip had been planned, just not publicly announced.

The surprise timing, though, gave the feel of two different worlds.

At the White House, press secretary Robert Gibbs was getting grilled about Tom Daschle's doomed nomination for health and human services secretary.

Meanwhile, the president was getting questions from boys and girls who are the same age as his seven-year-old daughter, Sasha.

One child asked him if he had a favorite superhero. Spiderman and Batman, the president answered.

Most everyone ignores the professional tax preparer in the room... (CPA) no one laughs at my jokes, no one watches my videos, many have me on ignore etc. So if you don't get my advice, then it is your own damn fault.

How you don't pay taxes is what Eleua alluded to... don't participate in the taxable money system... or you will continue to be required to "render under Caesar that which belongs to Caesar."

Get rid of ALL your debt (mortgages included) and spend very little money going forward. If the taxes on your house are high, then fight your assessment to get them lowered or move...

Frugal lifestyle decisions of many people has contributed to the demise of the government and the banking system... it turns it inside out because the free men and women refuse to participate.

Some here on the forum realize that without the pressure of buying "THINGS," and the pressure of debt, that the hours you HAVE to work (be employed) dwindle down to almost nothing. As well, your eligibility increases for many social programs should you desire them.

Standard of living is an illusion given to the masses to drive us to slave away our lives for the frivolous. At a minimum, we buy a home to eat, sleep, crap and clean up. Does it really matter what kind of home and where it is if your children are home schooled, it is a safe area and your family is with you?

To expand upon it... Grow your own food, veggies and poultry... you'll need some basic cash to pay your real estate taxes... Eat healthy and be healthy. If you are worried about "medical bills..." then you store your wealth in things that don't count in the IRS arena... healthy home-grown diet, homeopathic medicines with simple lab work and homeopathic doctors. If something big health-wise comes along, you'll either qualify for welfare that exists or you'll visit good hospitals outside the country. Insurance and loans simply make EVERYTHING MORE expensive.

The US world is best described by saying, they don't want your chickens and veggies... they want your cash! You make more and they take more. So this year, after you have rendered to Caesar, learn from it; Learn what Caesar takes of and reduce or eliminate participation in it.

Set aside for your real estate and other basics and plan a low cash life.

If you want the "things" world, then stop bitching about it and pay your taxes... Taxes come with the package. If you want out, then lower your "standard of living."

I'd love to have a 7 figure haul in one year, and then work just enough to maximize my EITC the following year. Imagine a multi-millionaire collecting the EITC...

That would be a smiley to the system.
